My Thoughts
The Fall of the House of Usher is among the most popular stories by Edgar Allan Poe. I believe this story contains a lot of symbolism that I didn't quite pick up in other stories by Poe. The Fall of the House of Usher symbolizes not only the house falling but the legacy of the entire Usher family all in a single moment. There are three deaths at exactly the same time!
My favorite part was when the protagonist was ready the story "Mad Trist". As he arrived at certain points in the story, something would happen in the real world that replicated the event. This was a brilliant way to add to the suspense and created quite the build-up to the final conclusion.
My Rating
I would rate this story a 3.8 out of 5. I thought it was very well written and it held my interest throughout. The ending was very well done and was quite creepy.
